Day 3. |
| Tarangire National Park, Tanzania |
Tarangire National Park
After breakfast you will be met by your guide
and depart south down the edge of the great rift valley for Tarangire National Park,
Tanzanias third largest. Here youll find a
geologic landscape as diverse as the wildlife,
with nine distinct vegetation zones ranging
from grassland to woodland, from deep gully
vegetation to scattered rocky hilltops. Ancient
Baobab trees dot the park dwarfing the
animals that feed beneath them. The
Tarangire River runs through here meanders
attracting an abundance of wildlife, from
elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe
and numerous antelope to a variety of colorful
birds. Viewing is especially good during the
dry season (June through October), when large
numbers of animals gather for the water from the river.
Your accommodations for the next two nights will be at Ol Tukai Camp. This is a small luxury camp set on a
2,000 acre private wildlife concession at the far southern end of Lake Manyara, in the migratory corridor
between and Tarangire, just 20 minutes drive from the entry gate. The 8 large walk-in tents are set on
wooden platforms with thatched roofs and private viewing verandahs. There is also a large dining boma and
lounge. Each tent has full ensuite facilities and 24hr, 22 Volt solar power. Activities include game drives in
the Tarangire, walking with Maasai guides to the shore of the lake and visiting nearby Datoga or Maasai
bomas. After lunch you will enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park followed by drinks around the fire
before dinner.

Day 4. |
| Serengeti National Park, Tanzania |
Serengeti National Park
During your stay in the Serengeti, you can decide with your guide how you would like to spend your days:
on all day game drives with box lunches, or early morning game drives followed by breakfast, then heading
out again. Your guide will advise you based on the best wildlife opportunities and your interests. Off road,
across the Serengeti plains, youll find "Kopjes" - massive boulder islands, standing in a sea of grass. The
kopjes were formed by volcanic activity and provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals, from the
elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik. After a days activities you will return to the lodge before dark, with time to
freshen up before dinner.

Day 5. |
| Serengeti NP, Tanzania |
Serengeti National Park
This area is most famous for the migration that takes place every year, which is considered to be one of the seven tourist travel wonders of the world and was named by the American television show Good Morning America and newspaper USA Today as one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" in 2006. Every year around October nearly 1.5 million herbivores travel towards the southern plains, crossing the Mara River, from the northern hills for the rains. And then back to the north through the west, once again crossing the Mara river, after the rains in around April. This phenomenon is sometimes also called the Circular Migration. Over 250,000 wildebeest alone will die along the journey from Tanzania to Masai Mara reserves in upper Kenya, a total of 500 miles.
Also in this area is the archaeologically significant Olduvai Gorge where some of the oldest hominid fossils are found.
Mara region which contains the Serengeti National Park, is also close to Arusha region where you can find Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 6. |
| Ngorongoro Crater CA, Tanzania |
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Ngorongoro was declared a conservation area in 1959 and at that point it was separated from the Serengeti National Park. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority is the governing body regulating use and access to the NCA. The area became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
Land in the conservation area is multi-use, it is unique in Tanzania as the only conservation area, providing protection status for wildlife whilst allowing human habitation. As such land use is controlled to prevent negative effects on the wildlife population, for example cultivation is prohibited at all but subsistence levels.
The area is part of the Serengeti ecosystem, and to the north-west it adjoins the Serengeti National Park and is contiguous with the southern Serengeti plains, these plains also extend to the north into unprotected Loliondo division and are kept open to wildlife through transhuman pastoralism practiced by Maasai. The south and west of the area are volcanic highlands, including the famous Ngorongoro Crater and the lesser known Empakai. The southern and eastern boundaries are approximately defined by the rim of the Great Rift Valley wall, which also prevents animal migration in these directions.
The annual ungulate migration passes through the Ngorongoro Conservation Are, with wildebeest and zebra moving south into the area in December and moving north in June. This movement changes seasonally with the rains, but the migration will traverse almost the entire plains in search of food. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area has a healthy resident population of most species of wildlife, in particular the Ndutu Lake area to the west has a strong cheetah and lion population.
